SBI PO photo, signature, thumb and declaration sizes

Source: Guidelines for scanning and upload of photograph, signature, thumb impression and declaration (SBI PO) (SBI PO June 2026 cycle). checked on 2026-09-06.

Specifications change between recruitment cycles. Always check the current official notification before you upload.

Six things to prepare, not two

The SBI PO upload guidelines borrow the banking-standard photo and signature boxes, then add a left thumb impression, a hand-written declaration at 800 x 400 px and 50-100 KB, and a live webcam capture. The guidelines are blunt about the consequence of stopping halfway: the application is not registered unless all four images are uploaded.

The declaration trips up careful people

Candidates who prepare everything else neatly still lose time on the declaration, because three separate constraints apply at once. It has to be handwritten, it has to be in English, and it must not be in capital letters. Write it on a plain sheet, scan the strip at 200 dpi, and crop to a 10 x 5 cm shape before compressing — the 2:1 pixel box only fits if the crop is already that shape.

Keep prints, not just files

The guidelines suggest retaining about eight copies of the same photograph. Between the preliminary exam, the main exam, the interview and joining formalities, you will be asked for physical prints that match the uploaded image, so print from the same file rather than a different sitting.

How it works

  1. Shoot or scan a passport-style photo, crop to 200 x 230 px and export 20-50 KB as JPG.
  2. Sign in running hand with a black pen, crop tight, and resize to 140 x 60 px at 10-20 KB.
  3. Take the left thumb impression on white paper and scan it to 240 x 240 px at 20-50 KB.
  4. Copy the declaration text by hand in English, scan the strip, and export 800 x 400 px at 50-100 KB.
  5. Complete the live webcam or QR capture inside the form itself.
  6. Print about eight copies of the photograph for the written test, interview and joining formalities.

Upload errors and how to fix them

Hand-written declaration not in the prescribed format
Write it in English in your own hand with a black pen — not typed, not in capitals — then scan the 10 x 5 cm strip at 200 dpi and export 50-100 KB at 800 x 400 px.
Live photograph rejected: face not clear
Face the camera squarely in even light with a pale wall behind you. Remove tinted glasses, masks and caps, and make sure your face is not a small patch in a wide frame.
Application not registered — mandatory image missing
SBI counts four uploads plus the live capture. Finish them in one sitting; a part-finished form does not generate a registration number.
Signature does not match at later stages
Use the same signature you will reproduce on the call letter and at the interview. Sign naturally rather than drawing a neat version once.

Which forms ask for this

Common questions

left thumb impression resize for sbi po — what are the numbers?
240 x 240 px scanned at 200 DPI, which is a 3 cm square, saved between 20 and 50 KB in jpg or jpeg. Black or blue ink both work, and the right thumb is accepted if the left is missing.
Is the SBI PO photo size different from IBPS PO?
No. Both use 200 x 230 px at 20-50 KB for the photo and 140 x 60 px at 10-20 KB for the signature. SBI adds the hand-written declaration and the live capture on top.
Can I type the hand-written declaration?
No. It must be written by hand, in English, with a black pen, and not in capital letters. A typed or capitalised declaration is rejected on inspection.
thumb impression resize for sbi clerk — same page?
Yes, the Clerk cycle uses the same four-image set, so the numbers on this page apply. Always confirm against the advertisement for your own cycle before you upload.
Why does SBI want a live photo when I already uploaded one?
The scanned photo goes on the call letter, while the live capture is an identity check taken at the moment you apply. Both are mandatory, and skipping the capture leaves the application unregistered.
