SSC CGL photo and signature size — what SSC actually publishes
Every site writes "SSC photo 20-50 KB" — but that number appears nowhere in SSC's notice, because the photo is captured live inside the form; only the signature size is fixed.

The '20-50 KB, 3.5 x 4.5 cm' figures quoted by most resizer sites do not appear in any fetched SSC notice.
Why this page has no photo KB number
Most SSC "photo resizer" pages open with a confident table: 20-50 KB, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, 100 DPI. We went looking for that table in the CGL 2026 notice and it is not there. Since SSC moved to live photo capture, the application module opens your camera and takes the picture itself. There is nothing to resize, so a resizer cannot honestly promise a target.
What you can prepare in advance
The signature is the part that genuinely needs work: a box of about 6.0 x 2.0 cm, saved as JPEG between 10 and 20 KB, with the upload instructions sheet adding that the signature should fill at least 80% of the box. That 80% rule is the reason so many candidates see "miniature signature" — a small autograph in the middle of a large white crop reads as tiny even when the KB is fine.
Exams covered by the same rule
SSC runs CHSL, GD Constable, MTS, JE and the Delhi Police Constable (Executive) recruitment on the same One Time Registration profile, and the Delhi Police write-up confirms SSC conducts that exam too. The signature rule does not change between them, so those pages point here rather than repeating one table five times.
How it works
- Sign inside a 6.0 x 2.0 cm box on white paper with a black pen and let the ink dry.
- Photograph or scan only the box, then crop right up to the edges of the ink.
- Open the signature tool below with the 10-20 KB preset already applied.
- Check the match badge: if the file lands below 10 KB, the tool pads it back into range instead of leaving it undersized.
- Download the file as signature.jpg and upload it in the OTR profile.
- For the photograph, keep your phone or webcam ready — SSC will capture it live during the application.
