IBPS photo and signature size — 200x230 px, 20-50 KB

IBPS gives the most complete spec of any recruiter in India — four separate images, each with its own pixel box and KB window, and the same numbers run across PO, Clerk and RRB.

Four files, four different targets

Banking forms fail more often than exam forms because there is more to get wrong. The CRP PO/MT-XV guidelines ask for a photograph at 200 x 230 px and 20-50 KB, a signature at 140 x 60 px and 10-20 KB, and a left thumb impression at 240 x 240 px and 20-50 KB. Three pixel boxes, two KB ranges, one scanner setting of at least 200 dpi in True Colour.

The same numbers cover Clerk and RRB

We fetched the CRP Clerks-XIV notification and the CRP RRBs-XIV advertisement to check whether Clerk and RRB candidates need different figures. They do not — both print the identical photo, signature and thumb specification, and both add that supporting documents must be A4 PDFs of no more than 500 KB. Instead of publishing three pages that say the same thing, this one page carries all three sources.

Thumb impressions have a substitution ladder

If the left thumb is missing or unusable, IBPS accepts the right thumb, then the left forefinger, right forefinger and left toe, in that order, provided you state which digit you used. That instruction is easy to miss, and an unlabelled substitute impression is a genuine rejection risk.

How it works

  1. Crop the photograph to the 200 x 230 px box with your face centred and a light background behind you.
  2. Export it as JPG between 20 and 50 KB using the preset loaded below.
  3. Sign with a black pen on white paper, crop to the ink, and resize to 140 x 60 px at 10-20 KB.
  4. Ink the left thumb, scan the impression at 200 dpi, and save it at 240 x 240 px between 20 and 50 KB.
  5. Write the hand-written declaration if your cycle asks for one, keeping the same scanner setting.
  6. Upload all images in one session — IBPS does not register the application until every required image is in place.

Upload errors and how to fix them

Photo size must be between 20 KB and 50 KB
Resize to 200 x 230 px first, then compress. A full-resolution camera photo squeezed to 50 KB looks blocky; cropping to the pixel box first keeps it sharp.
Signature in capital letters is not accepted
Sign in your normal running hand. IBPS rejects block-letter names written in place of a signature.
Thumb impression is not clear / size out of range
Press the left thumb on a white sheet with black or blue stamp ink, scan the 3 x 3 cm patch at 200 dpi, and land it between 20 and 50 KB at 240 x 240 px.
Uploaded document exceeds 500 KB
Certificates go up as A4 PDFs under 500 KB. Scan in greyscale at 200 dpi and merge pages into a single PDF before compressing.

Which forms ask for this

Common questions

ibps photo size height and width — what exactly?
200 pixels wide by 230 pixels high is the preferred pixel box, equivalent to a 4.5 x 3.5 cm print. The file itself must be JPG between 20 and 50 KB.
thumb impression resize for ibps — what size is it?
240 x 240 px scanned at 200 DPI, which is a 3 x 3 cm patch, saved as jpg/jpeg between 20 and 50 KB in black or blue ink. If your left thumb is unavailable, IBPS lists a substitution order and asks you to name the digit you used.
Is the IBPS Clerk photo size different from PO?
No. The CRP Clerks-XIV notification prints exactly the same numbers — 200 x 230 px, 20-50 KB photo, 140 x 60 px, 10-20 KB signature — which is why Clerk and RRB searches land on this page.
ibps photo compressor 50 kb — will quality survive?
Yes, if you resize before you compress. At 200 x 230 px there are only 46,000 pixels to store, so 50 KB is generous and the result stays readable.
ibps photo upload problem — the portal says invalid file. Why?
Check three things: the extension must be .jpg or .jpeg, the scan should be True Colour at 200 dpi or more, and the dimensions should match the preferred box. PNG files and 96-dpi screenshots are the usual culprits.
Do I need a hand-written declaration for IBPS PO?
The upload guidelines cover it alongside the photo, signature and thumb impression, but the KB and pixel figures for the declaration are printed in the SBI guidelines rather than the IBPS sheet, so check your own cycle's notice before scanning.
