Source: Information Bulletin — NEET (UG) 2026, National Testing Agency (NEET (UG) 2026). checked on 2026-09-06. Inside the same bulletin the finger and thumb impression file size is given twice: 10-200 KB in the scanned-image table and 50-300 KB later in the text.
Three photographs, not one
NEET asks for more images than any other entrance test on this site. The 2026 Information Bulletin requires a scanned passport photo at 10-200 KB, a live capture taken inside the form, left and right hand finger and thumb impressions, and a printed 4 x 6 inch postcard photograph to paste on the proforma you carry to the centre. Candidates who prepare only the first one discover the rest at the worst moment.
The 80% face rule decides your crop
NTA describes the framing in terms of area, not pixels: about 80% of the image should be your face, ears included, with no mask. There is no pixel dimension published for NEET at all, so the crop is judged by eye at the centre. Err towards a tighter head-and-shoulders crop on a white background.
An internal conflict worth knowing
Inside the same bulletin the finger and thumb impression size appears twice — 10-200 KB in the specification table and 50-300 KB in the running text. Anything between 50 and 200 KB satisfies both statements, which is what we recommend rather than picking one paragraph and hoping. Note also the recency clause: for the 2026 cycle the photograph had to be taken after 01 January 2026.
How it works
- Take a fresh passport-style photo on a white background after the cycle's cut-off date.
- Crop so your face and ears fill roughly 80% of the frame, then export 10-200 KB as JPG.
- Sign on white paper, crop to the ink and export the signature between 10 and 100 KB.
- Scan the left and right hand finger and thumb impressions as JPG files.
- Complete the live photo capture inside the application form.
- Get 6-8 passport prints and 4-6 postcard 4x6 inch prints made from the same photo for exam day.
